Division 3
About the coach... Cassie Hoggins
I began playing netball over 20 years ago for a team called Moonbeamers. We went through the season undefeated
and then lost in the grand final. It was devastating and I have never forgotten!
As a junior I played representative
netball for Heights, who amalgamated with Diamond Creek to create Force. I was always a goaler, but after moving to Comets
I move into the centre court and have never looked back.
I have played for Comets for the past 5 years
and currently represent in the Open Division 1 team.
I have coached Under 11’s through to
17’s. At the beginning of the year I was asked to coach the 17’s and thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
This season I look forward to building on each player’s strengths, but also identifying weaknesses and trying to assist
players to improve in these areas. I also look forward to the challenging task of pulling 2 separate teams together to create
a cohesive group of players.
I am also a ‘B grade’ umpire and have been umpiring for more than half
my life- which makes me feel really old.

A nice win to start the season
A strong
and consistent game by all players. We started off like we hadn’t played a lot together, but by the end we were working
much better as a team. This will come with further match play and practice at training. There
were lots of changes to combinations and everyone did what they were asked to do.
Defensively we turned the ball
over well, but need to give our attackers time to re-set as they are defending all the way down court. There
were strong leads out of defence and all the way to the goal circle.
Well
done – it looks like a promising season ahead.
